'New wave is back with a vengeance with the pseudo-homage'
from the French duo Penelope[s]. Their third long player "Priceless
Concrete" gets US release via NYC imprint Le Plan (Wax Tailor Rebotini).
Within a year The Penelope[s] have played the best European
festivals (Sonar, Razzmatazz, Dour), and named as 2009's
"Revelation of The Year" by the readers of Trax magazine, France's
Dance culture bible, alongside Justice & Sebastian.
The latest to emerge from Paris' digital renaissance,
The Penelope[s] are influenced by a distinctly early Nineties pop with hip-hop
roots, Axel & Vincent push the envelope of French scene, keeping
sophisticated, strange, unique, demanding with explosive live performances.

Me croirez-vous
Et
cette vie ne
cesse de leur réserver des rencontres. Parmi elles, celle de Samy
Birnbach
aka DJ Morpheus, l’ancien leader du groupe culte Minimal
Compact.
"Don't expect nothing but some change in the weather" -
Guillaume
Deloire
"The Penelope[s]are a relatively young ban, but
their sound might whisk you back to your favourite 80's flick" -USA
TODAY / POP CANDY
"French
electropop stars" - ALT SOUNDS
"This
is a favorite CD of mine" - BACK BEAT SEATTLE
"unique
style of fun & flare" - BANGERS & TRASH
"If
you like to shake a leg on the dancefloor, you'll definitely appreciate the
grooves of Axel Basquiat and Vincent Tremmel of the Penelopes." - SPINNER
"The music is just that familiar, but manages to sound
completely modern. It’s almost difficult to describe. - TRASH
MENAGERIE
"overall
the album presents listeners with best of multiple worlds: the taste of 80's
rock, dance, and rave influenced works... We give it an A+ for effort" - BEATCRAVE
"Poised
for North American dominance" - FAZER
"'Saved'
is a scorched earth-storm that roars to life like the best of My Bloody
Valentine and early Ride" - Ink19
